Edmonton Day Traders Message Board › changes in regulations for forex trading in Alberta. changes in regulations for forex trading in Alberta. Posted 11.05.12 12:58 Link to discussion. Apparently there have been changes in Alberta. "The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has taken the position that securities of this nature may only be offered to residents of Alberta who qualify as “Accredited Investors.” The ASC is unique in adopting this restriction amongst all of the other Canadian provinces and territories." Basically to be an Accredited Investor you must have over a million in assets (after liabilities) andor earn over $200,000 per year. Anyone else been made aware of this or have other information? Just investigating whether this will apply to futures as well. Posted 11.05.12 18:34 Link to reply. Alberta Securities Commission just told me this applies to futures trading in Alberta as well. Anyone else been notified by their broker? Posted 27.05.12 9:15 Link to reply. I have not heard anything at all about this.

What a crock if they think that futures trading is beyond the average individual. Once again, the SEC thinks that they have to step in and regulate the normal person because they are to dumb to protect themselves. These few that charge into things without knowing what they are doing and then lose a bunch of money because they are stupid, then cry to the SEC that they aren't responsible and should not have been allowed to do this "risky" investing. Then they end up costing the rest of the people who take the time to do things properly the opportunity. This is why I encourage you to get educated before you trade, So you are not one of these "stupid" people. If you can't afford the risk, you should not be in the trade. If you don't have a risk management strategy, you should not be trading! For those of you who trade forex and futures like I do, do not worry.
